The Meadowlark Cove picnic site at Bear Creek Lake Park on Sat., August 16th has been reserved. The official picnic time will be 1-4PM, that is when the alcohol permit is good for. I would encourage people to come anytime during the day, we have the shelter all day and it’s very close to the swim beach. Beer, up to 6.0, is allowed at all times, but for hard alcohol it can only be during the permit time. The club will provide the food and non-alcoholic beverages.

This is a difficult trail out of Nathrop, just past the Grizzly Lake trail. While not a long trail, the long boulder field encountered at the beginning will slow your progress considerably. There is another small rocky section further up, then you reach the old Iron Chest Mine. Be careful around the old buildings and mine shafts.
